HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 19

Designating U.S. Route 19, which connects Interstate 77 north of Beckley to Interstate 79 south of Sutton, as the "Bob Byrd Mountaineer Parkway."

Whereas, Senator Robert C. Byrd's efforts are expected to yield approximately $155.3 million for the four-lane upgrade of U.S. Route 19, already known as the "Mountaineer Parkway"; and

Whereas, The four-lane upgrade of U.S. Route 19 will improve driver convenience and safety as well as enhance the climate for economic development in the region; and
Whereas, The total completion of the four-lane upgrade of U.S. Route 19 is expected in early 1998; and
Whereas, The citizens in the region, as well as the rest of West Virginia, would like to express their deep gratitude to Senator Robert C. Byrd by naming U.S. Route 19 the "Bob Byrd Mountaineer Parkway"; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That U.S. Route 19, which connects Interstate 77 north of Beckley to Interstate 79 south of Sutton, be designated the "Bob Byrd Mountaineer Parkway"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Governor and the Secretary of the Department of Transportation.
